Is a dedicated database server that hosts databases created using FileMaker Pro Advanced so that data can be shared and modified by FileMaker Pro Advanced, FileMaker Go®, and FileMaker WebDirect™ clients, and by other client applications supported by the FileMaker Server Web Publishing Engine and the FileMaker Data API Engine.
Minimum Requirements FileMaker System
FileMaker Server 18 supports the following clients:
FileMaker Pro 16
FileMaker Pro 18, 17, and 16 Advanced
FileMaker Go 18, 17, and 16
Apps created using iOS App SDK 18, 17, and 16
The latest updates must be applied to the above clients before the clients connect to FileMaker Server 18. Some features may not be fully backwards compatible.

A dedicated computer is recommended for FileMaker Server.
CPU: Dual Core RAM: 8 GB Hard Drive: 100 GB or more, dependent on file size, requires a minimum of 50 GB of free space. Solid State Drive (SSD) recommended.
macOS Sierra 10.12 is no longer supported. Please update your operating system before upgrading to FileMaker Server 18.
FileMaker Server may work with later operating systems certified by FileMaker, Inc. Operating systems not listed in the table above may also work but have not been tested and are not supported.

Java FileMaker Server no longer installs a Java Runtime Environment (JRE), needed for using Custom Web Publishing and FileMaker WebDirect. To use web-related services, you must install either OpenJDK or Oracle JRE. Learn more
PHP FileMaker Server 18 installs what you need to use Custom Web Publishing with PHP including the PHP engine, the FileMaker API for PHP, and documentation. Security Supports AES-256 encryption of data at rest when the database files are encrypted by FileMaker's encryption functionality.
Sharing, reading from, and writing to AES-256 encrypted files is supported by all products in the FileMaker 18 Platform.
